Bishop Robert & First Lady Jacquiline Byrd
Founders of Devotion Heights Church
Every great ministry begins with a moment of surrender — and for Bishop Robert Byrd and First Lady Jacquiline Byrd, that moment came long before the crowds, the cameras, or the congregation of thousands.
Born into a lineage of preachers, Bishop Byrd carried the call of ministry from his youth. His voice — commanding, compassionate, and charged with conviction — soon drew the attention of communities far beyond his hometown. After completing his theological training, he began preaching in small churches, revival tents, and youth conferences across the state, driven by one desire: to see people encounter God for themselves.
During a summer revival, he met Jacquiline, a soft-spoken yet steady woman whose quiet faith matched his fire. What began as friendship soon grew into partnership — in life, in love, and in ministry. The two married and began a small home Bible study with a handful of families who shared their passion for worship and truth. That gathering became the foundation of what would soon be known as Devotion Heights Church.
Over the years, through prayer, persistence, and unshakable vision, Devotion Heights grew from a modest fellowship into a thriving ministry of more than 3,000 members. The church is now recognized for its heartfelt worship, powerful preaching, and its commitment to transforming lives both locally and abroad.
Together, Bishop Byrd and First Lady Jacquiline have built not only a church, but a legacy — one marked by faith, family, and fortitude. Their journey stands as a reminder that devotion is not a destination, but a daily choice — to love, to lead, and to believe in God’s grace even in the face of life’s greatest tests.
“We didn’t set out to build a crowd — we set out to build a community. Every soul here is a story of grace.” — Bishop Robert Byrd
Our Story
The Journey of Devotion Heights Church
What began in a small living room with twelve people and a prayer has grown into one of the most dynamic and spirit-filled ministries in the city — a beacon of faith known today as Devotion Heights Church.
Founded by Bishop Robert and First Lady Jacquiline Byrd, Devotion Heights was born out of a simple vision: to build a place where worship would be genuine, the Word would be alive, and broken hearts could find healing. In its earliest days, folding chairs and open Bibles filled the Byrds’ home. There were no lights, no choirs, no cameras — only voices lifted in unity and a deep hunger for God’s presence.
From those humble beginnings, the church quickly grew. Within a few years, the congregation outgrew their first storefront sanctuary and moved into a larger space — one that could hold the hundreds of families being drawn to the ministry’s authentic worship and practical teaching. As word spread, Devotion Heights became a spiritual home for people from every walk of life: believers searching for truth, leaders seeking renewal, and those simply looking for a place to belong.
Today, with a membership exceeding 3,000 and growing, Devotion Heights Church stands as a thriving hub of faith, outreach, and transformation. From its community food drives and mentorship programs to its powerful worship experiences and global missions, every effort is rooted in one core conviction — that devotion changes everything.
The church’s message remains the same: God still meets people where they are — and lifts them higher.
“From the living room to the city. From a whisper to a movement. That’s what devotion can do.” — First Lady Jacquiline Byrd
